Scotch Plains Sewage Goes One of Two Ways
Scotch Plains is a member of two regional sewer systems, the Rahway Valley Sewerage Authority and the Plainfield Area Regional Sewerage Authority, whose flow is treated by the Middlesex County Utilities Authority. Which one handles your house depends on the address, so confirm it. Either way, upkeep of the lateral, the pipe carrying waste out to the street main, generally falls to the homeowner. When several fixtures back up at once, that pipe is the first place to look.
About half the township's homes predate 1960, Census estimates show, which puts the median right around that year. Houses from that period sometimes still run on galvanized steel supply pipe, and rust inside it slowly shrinks the flow at the taps. Our shop is here in town, on East 2nd Street. Estimates are free for most jobs, and no wrench turns until you have the price in writing.

The two professionals were able to come over earlier than scheduled. They were friendly, knowledgeable, and transparent in pricing and other expectations. My faucet was fixed right away with no issues and no surprise charges or fees.

Great service and reliability! My boiler stopped working right in the middle of the winter storm a couple of weeks ago. Despite having to maneuver over 5 inches of snow, they came quickly and were able to replace it. My house felt warm again in no time.
